AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas Access to Justice Commission (“Commission”) kicked off Texas Pro Bono Week during a reception honoring law firms and attorneys who support access to justice efforts in Texas.

The Justice for All reception is part of the American Bar Association’s National Pro Bono Celebration that focuses attention on the increased need for pro bono services and celebrates the outstanding work of lawyers who volunteer their services throughout the year.  Governor Greg Abbott and the Supreme Court of Texas both issued proclamations designating this week as Pro Bono Week in Texas.

Texas Supreme Court Justice Eva Guzman, the Supreme Court’s liaison to the Commission, Justices Jeff Boyd and Jeff Brown presented awards to the Champion of Justice law firms that were recognized for their outstanding support of the Justice for All Campaign, which supports and sustains legal aid programs.  This year's Campaign raised more than $1,481,000 from more than 10,000 attorneys across the state who made a voluntary Access to Justice (ATJ) contribution.
